The complete live concert recording newly uncovered by the Erroll Garner Jazz Project and digitally remastered in its entirety after six decades is produced by Guggenheim® Award-winning jazz pianist and Director of Jazz Studies at the University of Pittsburgh Geri Allen and 4-time GRAMMY®Award-winning producer Steve Rosenthal. The 3-CD box set contains the complete live Concert By The Sea including 11 previously unreleased tracks, the original edited Columbia release from 1956 and bonus material including announcer Jimmy Lyons and interviews with the Erroll Garner trio: Denzil DaCosta Best, Eddie Calhoun, and Garner himself, recorded directly after the concert.

    The best discs I have purchased this year! This WILL be the reissue of the year. My mother introduced me to Erroll Garner through this album. After awhile, the lp was worn out so we went and bought the cds. So much joy, happiness and great playing even if the sound was a little scratchy here and there.With this new reissue, there has been a dramatic improvement in the sound and I believe 11 new tracks added, to form the complete concert on the first two cds.     2015 Reissue of the Year (in any category) I could certainly go on and on about Erroll Garner’s huge talent as a passionate pianist, the magic that transpired on the evening of September 19, 1955 at the Sunset Center in Carmel from which this was drawn, or the fact that it was an unprofessional recording by a fan who happened to have a fairly cheap tape recorder on hand to capture it. So why is this particular edition of “Concert by the Sea” worthy of additional discussion when previous versions have existed dating all the way…
